CNC Bending Machine

What is CNC bending machine?

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) bending is a manufacturing process performed by CNC press brakes (also known as CNC brake presses). These machines can bend sheet metal parts from a few millimeters to several meters long on the largest industrial machines. CNC press brakes either have a fixed bottom bed with the V-block tool clamped in place or a top beam that moves under the action of the V-blade tool, which is called down-forming. On the opposite side is the upper forming machine that moves downward and the upper beam is fixed. Both process methods will produce the same sheet metal part, and there are no restrictions on the design of the part to fit either machine.

CNC press brakes have been around for a while but have gotten better with time and progress. It is a machine that helps to bend cold sheet metal into the desired geometry and cross-sectional shape. It has a variety of uses and is suitable for various industries such as manufacturing, automobiles, railways, aircraft, and shipbuilding.

CNC Bending Machine Operating Procedures

  1. Strictly abide by the safety operation procedures and wear labor protection equipment as required.
  2. Before starting the machine, carefully check whether the motor, switch, circuit and grounding are normal and firm, and check whether the control parts and buttons of the equipment are stuck in the correct position.
  3. Check the overlap and firmness of the upper and lower molds; check whether each positioning device meets the processing requirements.
  4. When the upper slide plate and each positioning axis are not at the origin, run the back-to-origin program.
  5. After the equipment is started, idle for 1-2 minutes, and move 2-3 times in the full stroke on the slide. If abnormal noise or failure is found, stop the machine immediately, remove the failure, and work after everything is normal.
  6. When working, one person is in charge of the unified command, so that the operator closely cooperates with the feeding and pressing personnel to ensure that the cooperating personnel are in a safe position before the bending signal can be issued.
  7. When the sheet is bent, it must be compacted to prevent the sheet from lifting and hurting people during bending.
  8. When adjusting the sheet metal mold, the power must be cut off and the operation should be stopped.
  9. When the opening of the variable lower die is changed, no material is allowed to contact the lower die.
  10. When working, no one is allowed to stand behind the machine.
  11. It is strictly forbidden to fold the sheet on one side.
  12. If the workpiece or mold is found to be incorrect during the work, it should be stopped and corrected. It is strictly forbidden to perform manual correction during the operation to prevent hand injury.
  13. It is forbidden to bend super-thick iron plates or hardened steel plates, high-grade alloy steel, square steel, and plate bending machines whose performance exceeds that of bending machines, so as not to damage the machine tool.
  14. Always check the overlap of the upper and lower dies; whether the indication of the pressure gauge meets the regulations.
  15. If there is an abnormality, stop the machine immediately, check the cause, and eliminate it in time.
  16. Before stopping, place the wooden block on the lower die under the cylinders on both sides, and lower the upper sliding plate onto the wooden block.
